"SOUTH HADLEY - Hannelore (Schreiber) Parks, 84, died at her home on July 31st surrounded by family. Born May 25, 1930 in Würzburg, Germany, she immigrated to the U.S. in 1957 and settled in Holyoke. For 22 years Hannelore was head baker at the Yankee Pedlar Inn. Lore loved classical music, especially opera, her flower garden, German poetry, and cooking and baking. It was common knowledge that every afternoon at 2:30 she hosted a Kaffeeklatsch during which guests were treated to delicious homemade baked goods with their coffee. Her kindness, generosity and sense of humor will be greatly missed. Hannelore leaves a husband, Edward Parks, a daughter, Carmen, and son-in-law, John P. Sullivan of Granby, two sisters, Margot Godwin of De Bary, Florida, and Liane Kwiotek of Würzburg, Germany, two grandchildren, John P. Sullivan, Jr. and his wife Darlene, and Dena Janicki and her husband Edward, all of Chicopee, five great-grandchildren, Stephannie and John P. Sullivan III of South Hadley, Ashleigh and Joshua Clark, and Tyler Janicki, all of Chicopee, as well as several nieces and nephews in Germany. The family would like to thank Nancy Hicks of South Hadley, and Cooley Dickinson Hospice for their wonderful care of Hannelore. A calling hour will on Monday, August 4th from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in South Hadley. Burial to follow in West Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice at the following address: VNA and Hospice of Cooley Dickinson, 168 Industrial Drive, Northampton, MA 01060.
