Elaine Schulstrom

Elaine Baldwin Schulstrom was born November 14, 1934 in Madison, WI and moved to Rockford, IL as a young child. She spent 45 years of her early life in Rockford, IL before moving our family to Colorado in 1980. Our family vacations in the brown country squire station wagon involved a road trip to Colorado nearly every year. She has always loved the stunning beauty of the mountains and said, “someday I want to live in Colorado”. It was very difficult for us to leave our extended family and dear friends in the mid-west, but Mom and Dad made it a priority to get back to Rockford every year at least once or twice. On April. 18th, 1959, she married the love of her life, Russ Schulstrom at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rockford. On February 22, 1960, they welcomed in their firstborn child, Scott Russell. Dawn Elaine arrived on May 1st, 1962 and Steven Carl joined Team Schulstrom on March 8th, 1967. The other absolute loves of her life, her 6 grandchildren, Kalie, Taylor, Allie, Ben, Annika, Zachary and her sweet, wiggly granddogs filled her life with so much joy. There was no one who loved more deeply, gave more freely or shared more of her generous heart than Elaine did. No matter what name you called Elaine if it was Mom, Aunt Elaine, Mormor, Grandma or Elly Mae, you were all lucky to know her zest for life and her warm gentle smile. She was an avid bowler, golfer, knitter, quilter and card player. She was extremely generous with her time as a room mom, cub scout leader, or anyone else that needed a helping hand. She was also extremely involved with Trinity and Bethany Lutheran Church. On April 18th, 2019, Elaine entered God’s heaven to join her husband on their 60th wedding anniversary. Life is rich and full, live well, laugh often and love much! You’ll be missed terribly, but rest well. Cheers to a life well-lived!!
