"Palmer, Steven R. Safford, 29, passed away suddenly on June 1, 2013. Born in Springfield on May 19, 1984, he was the son of Steven J. and the late Barbara (Forsman) Safford. Previously of Hampden, Steven has resided in Palmer for the past three years. He was a graduate of Minnechaug Regional High School in Wilbraham. Stevie had an intense love for basketball his entire life. He was even out shooting hoops the day before his passing. He was also a computer genius and music lover. Steven was devastated with the loss of his mother, Barbara, in 2010 when she was involved in a fatal motor vehicle accident. Stevie was a unique old soul. He possessed an enormous heart, full of compassion, love and respect for others. He had a fantastic sense of humor accompanied with a great smile that will be forever missed but never forgotten. He will be dearly missed by his father, Steven J., with whom he lived, along with his sister, Katrina Safford and her partner, Randy Merceri and their son, Trevor of Three Rivers. His grandparents, Donald and Patricia Safford and Robert and Muriel Forsman, along with Julie and Dylan Fontaine, Donnie and Bryan Safford, Alan, Sara and Kenneth Forsman also survive him. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 19 at 1:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Springfield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Steven Safford Memorial Fund c/o Monson Savings Bank, 15 Somers Rd. Hampden, MA 01036. Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. "
