Mrs. Nowell, 79, of Charlotte, NC passed away at her residence on January 28, 2017. Elsie was born on February 2, 1937 in Brewer, Maine, daughter of the late Everett J. and Eva Graves Young. Mrs. Nowell was a very active, generous and caring lady. Elsie loved and cared for so many, including God's furry creatures at her home. She also loved to travel with her family, enjoying several trips abroad. Elsie loved her Lord, her church and church family. She was active in her church and often prayed with those in need. Elsie was a devoted and loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend. She was known as "Gramma" to her fellow coworkers at the Mellow Mushroom. Prior employment included 30 years at the Jim Monin Insurance Agency. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant brother, Lewis and brother Everett J. Young and his wife Theresa. Mrs. Nowell is survived by her husband, Milton Earl Nowell; Son, Matthew Nowell and his wife, Laurie; Daughter, Eva King and her husband Ronnie; Grandchildren, Jason King and Matthew Nowell, Jr.; Nieces and Nephews, Everett Young (Jim), Bill Young, Linda Wells, Brenda Proffit and Karen Young; and several great-nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Eastway Baptist Church, 2479 Eastway Dr., Charlotte, NC 28205. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, Mint Hill. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the church for one hour prior to the service.
