Beers and Story - Belchertown
Joanne Joyce Henry
March 11th, 1958 - February 8th, 2022
Belchertown--Joanne Joyce Henry, born in Rutland, Vermont, and lived most of her life in Belchertown Massachusetts passed away February 8, 2022, in the comfort of her home in South Hadley. Joanne was born on May 11, 1958, to her parents Carolyn and John Joyce in Rutland Vermont. After high school, she moved to Massachusetts to attend Springfield College. She graduated top of her class and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Therapeutic Recreation Services. She started her career as an intern at the Belchertown Recreation department. She went on to get married and have two children, Nathan, and Matthew. She moved on to work for the Belchertown State Schools as a recreational therapist, where she was a key member of integrating patients outside of the State School facilities. She later moved on as a trainer for the Department of Developmental Services where she strived in her passion of training and helping others using charismatic public speaking skills and her own brand of personalized charisma. She unconditionally loved her sons and friends throughout the best and worst of times and would love to be remembered in the best times of her life: teaching aerobics, beach trips, ski trips, concerts, work, and sporadic adventures etc... She would also want her work friends to remember her for her class lectures and would’ve wanted them to continue to pass down the knowledge that they obtained through her many memorable seminars. She is survived by her 2 sons, Nathan, and Matthew Henry. Visitation will be Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St, from 1:00pm-4:00pm. Please come say goodbye.
