Granby- Robin LaBorde, 68, passed away November 17, 2023. He was born on December 9, 1954, in Springfield, MA, to the late Frank and Phyllis (Sprissler) LaBorde. Robin was a 1973 graduate of Granby High School and a 1978 graduate of Holyoke Community College where he earned an Associates in Arts and Science. Shortly after graduating high school, Robin was greatly influenced by Ted Duda of the American Turners of Holyoke, where Robin became a student. Robin also worked as an automotive mechanic at Sears Roebucks of W. Springfield and the Holyoke Mall. Robin volunteered as a Cub Scout Leader, at the Assistant 4-H Barnyard Buddies Club, and for the Convention of States. Robin was a dedicated family man and he loved his family dearly. In 1981, Robin married his best friend, Jane, and together they built a home and raised a family. Robin will always be remembered for his dedication, compassion, loyalty, and his love for his wife, children, and grandchildren. Besides his parents, Robin was preceded in death by his siblings, Theodore LaBorde of Easthampton and Sandra Rondeau of Ludlow. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Jane (Taksar) LaBorde; children, Robert C. LaBorde and Brigid Kearney (Dawn LaBorde) , both of Granby; grandchildren, Padraig Robin Kearney and Saoirse Jane Kearney; and his brother, Frank LaBorde of Wichita, KS. Visitation will be held on December 8, 2023 from 10am-12pm, with a Celebration of Life service to begin at 12pm at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. There will be time during the service for family and friends to share personal memories. Burial will be held at the discretion of the family.
