Three Rivers- Carol A. Cavanaugh, 83, passed away on February 11, 2024 surrounded by family. She was born on April 17, 1940 in Chicopee, Massachusetts to the late Frederick and Wanda (Czepiel) Guzik and wife of her late husband of 56 years, Joseph M. Cavanaugh. She was a lifelong resident of Palmer and communicant to Divine Mercy Parish. She proudly loved and raised four children. Carol retired from the Palmer Public Schools after working over 20 years in food service. She will be deeply missed by her children, Joseph Cavanaugh of Belchertown, Michael Cavanaugh of Palmer, Patrick Cavanaugh of Palmer, and Colleen Mayberry (Mark) of Monson, and her siblings, sister, Genevieve Baldyga (Frank), and brothers, Frederick Guzik (Wanda), Michael Guzik (Julie), and Richard Guzik. Carol enjoyed cooking amazing recipes for friends and family, challenging her grandchildren to card games (where she usually won), and cherishing her Polish Heritage. Nothing made her happier than spending time with grandchildren, Jill, Katelyn, Taylor, Ashley, Summer, Savannah, Sierra, Branden, Kyle, Maddison, Brian, and great grandchild, Eli. Over the last few years, she spoke often about how she wished to see her husband Joe again. She will be remembered for her love and selflessness. Carol was a brave and generous woman whose life is celebrated. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 4-6pm at Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 10am at Divine Mercy Parish. Family and Friends are invited to gather at the funeral home at 9am for a funeral procession. Burial will immediately follow in St. Anne’s Cemetery in Palmer.
