James Robert Johnson
April 30th, 1940 - July 31st, 2022
James Robert Johnson, 82, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on July 31, 2022. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Jessie Ormond Johnson and his children, James Kevin Johnson (Amal) of Fresno, California, Robert Johnson (Sheri) of Richmond, Virginia, and Lynn Bullock (David) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is the dear grandfather of Trey Johnson (Hope), Megan Copper (Jon), Lauren Johnson, Madelyn Johnson, Brandon Bullock (Isabel), Kinsley Bullock, Natalie Johnson, Sarah Johnson, and great-grandfather to Ryan Johnson, Riley Kate Johnson, Eleanor Copper, Odin Copper, and Rhys Johnson. He is also survived by his siblings, Truley Ann Juneau (Pat) of Lafayette, Louisiana, Steve Chapman (Rosa) of Victoria, Australia, and Barbara Gary (Bob) of Lafayette, Louisiana, and many loved nieces and nephews. Born in Monroe, Louisiana, James graduated from West Monroe High School and then served in the Army from 1958-1961. He then went on to graduate from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and worked as an electrical engineer until he retired to Colorado in 1996. For many years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, gardening, teaching Bible studies, and serving in the American Legion of Westcliffe, Colorado. The family of James wishes to express sincere thanks for all the prayers and acts of kindness shown during this time. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Springs Church located at 1515 Auto Mall Loop Colorado Springs, CO. A memorial service will also be held in Louisiana sometime this fall.
