David W. Cox, 63, of Kingsport, TN, passed away at his home January 21, 2024. David was born in Auburn, IN on July 26, 1960 but spent most of his life in Kingsport, TN. He graduated from Lynn View High School in 1978. David attended Lynn Garden Baptist Church when he was younger and was a member there. He worked for the City of Kingsport water department for over 30 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1980 to 1984, and the United States Naval Reserve to 1986. David was preceded in death by his father, Jackie W. Cox and step-father, Charles D. Parsons. He is survived by his son, Jeremy Cox; daughter, Breana Cox; mother, Della Parsons; sisters, Teresa Carey and Tammy (Randall) Sluss; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 11 am to 12 pm Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Scott County Funeral Home. Services will follow at 12:00 pm with Rev. Rick Meade officiating. Military graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Mountain Home National Cemetery, 53 Memorial Ave, Mountain Home, TN with American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 providing the honors. Family and friends are welcome to gather at 1:50 pm for the graveside service. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, VA is in charge of the arrangements.
