Dolores, 90 years old, passed peacefully on Saturday, August 26, 2023. Dolores was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Ollie Duncan Vaughn and John Thurman Vaughn. "Dodie" as her friends knew her, loved her family, friends, and all four legged animals... her sweet Nena will miss her greatly. She was an avid sports fan attending Greensboro Grasshoppers baseball and supported "her boys" by being a booster member for the team. Her love for sports extended to BAMA football (Roll Tide), watching golf and Braves baseball on tv but her greatest joy was cheering her grandsons and great grandsons in their sports! She will always be remembered by whistling their victories from the bleachers! Dolores worked with various hospitality groups over years and upon retiring she worked at Abbottswood Retirement Community. In her final years she enjoyed playing games on her iPad and many could set their clock by her as she would FaceTime family and friends each night. Dolores is survived by her daughter Kristy and son-in-law, Jerry Bunting. Grandsons, Jason (Deborah) Bunting, Justin Bunting, Corbin (Jordan) Martin, great grandsons Jacob, Peyton, Jonah and Cole. Sisters, Darlia Stephens and Cheri Wood and brother Curtis Wood. Sister-in-law Glenda (Steve) Grissett. Also, loving companion of her son, Karen Czerwonky, Mackenzie Czerwonky and Hawk. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband James Christopher Martin, son James Michael Martin, brother William (Sonny) Vaughn and husband, Jack Hinkle. Per her request there will be no family visitation however, she can be viewed Friday, September 1st from 9am-5pm at Pierce-Jefferson Lambeth Chapel in Greensboro, NC. A Graveside Service will be held 1:30pm, Saturday, September 2nd at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro, NC.
