Herbert Oliver
October 12th, 1923 - May 7th, 2010
Herbert Oliver, age 86, went to be with his Savior today. Mr. Oliver was a retired carpenter by trade. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for 45 years and a veteran of the US Army. He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Gracie Kellam Oliver, son Jackie Oliver, daughter in law Betty "Boop" Oliver, parents Pearl and Thurman Oliver and brother, Willie Oliver. Surviving family members are: sons James Oliver and wife Donna, Joseph Oliver and wife Lucy, Jerry Oliver; daughter Joan Miller and husband Charles; sister Gerri Staton and brother Ardell Oliver; grandchildren Jennifer, Chrissy, Patrick, David, Jason, Michelle, Laura, Ray, Misty and Jerry, plus 14 great grandchildren and special sister-in-law Bessie Oakley. A graveside service will be held at Lakeview Memorial Park on Sunday, May 9th at 2 pm with Rev. Larry Pugh officiating. Visitation will take place from 12 to 1:30 at the home of his daughter at 4211 Bell Orchard Rd. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to his beloved church, Hillcrest Baptist Church, 3918 Baylor Street, Greensboro, NC 27405.
