John Weiss

Summerfield, N.C. John W. Weiss, 77, passed away on December 10, 2009 at his residence, 6190 Windsor Farme Road, Summerfield, NC 27358 surrounded by his loving family. 'Jack' was born in Astoria, New York on March 20, 1932 to John S. and Mary Kelly Weiss. He was a graduate of St. John's University, Queens, New York and a U.S. Marine Corp, veteran of the Korean War. He retired as Vice President of Marketing following a twenty-eight year career with Drexel Heritage Furnishings. He treasured and held close the many friendships made through several family relocations beginning with American Oil Company in 1955. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John C. Weiss, and his sister, Marilyn J. Kaelin. Jack is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jocelyn (Sharp), of the home; daughter Cynthia J. Watson, of Greensboro, N.C. sons; Douglas C. Weiss and wife Theresa, of Greensboro, N.C., Blaine R. Weiss and wife, Cheryl , of Summerfield, N.C. ; seven grandchildren, Kate J. Watson, Brittany L. Weiss, Michael C. Weiss, Allison M. Weiss, Madison J, Weiss, Christina B. Weiss and Nicholas Tyler Weiss. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial be offered to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue , Greensboro, N.C. 27401. The family will receive friends and family at the residence following the Mass of Resurrection at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church, New Garden Road, Greensboro.
