Helen Nadine McLaughlin, 71, passed away May 14th, 2020 after an extended battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her husband Donald A McLaughlin, brother John Kaufman Jr, sister Joanne Miller, nephew Tom Lochner, and parents Margaret and John Kaufman. She is survived by sisters Maxine (Major) Morelock of McMinnville, and Nancy (Allen) Lochner of Albany, nieces Linda Ramer, Joanna Secor, Julie McConnell, and nephew James Lochner, God-nieces Cecilia Mihaylo, and Ruth Hyde, God-nephew, Darian Hyde, and numerous grandnieces and nephews. Helen was born in Sweet Home, Oregon, and lived there until the age of 12. At that time, she moved with her family to Buel, Oregon and attended school in Buel and McMinnville, graduating from McMinnville High School in 1969. After graduating, Helen moved to Salem. Before long, she met the love of her life, Don McLaughlin and was married to him for 25 years, living in Clackamas, Oregon. Helen was a huge Denver Broncos and Golden State fan. One of her hobbies was cross-stitch. She stitched many team logos, as well as beautiful scenery pictures, and many Christmas ornaments for family and friends. For several years Helen worked at Burger King. Even after retiring she still liked to go get a “Whopper”. Helen enjoyed her family & friends and loved spending time with them. In March she was able to spend a night at the coast with her sister and nieces, and on Easter she was so happy to see the family come and wave to her from her window. In her final weeks she was blessed to receive wonderful care from her caregivers, Tupou Takea and niece Vaki. They were such a blessing and Helen loved them like family.
