Paul "Sonny" Goodwin Glover, Jr.

Paul “Sonny” Goodwin Glover Jr., 78, of North Charleston, South Carolina passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on Wednesday, May 19th, 2021. Paul was born February 18, 1943 in Charleston, South Carolina. He dedicated twenty-five years of his life as a TSGT in the United States Air Force. He was proud of his military service and was honored to defend his country. He retired from USAF, after becoming disabled in 1979. In his retirement, he devoted his time to his family, being a loving husband, father and grandfather. He spent much of his time with his cherished dogs, Abby, Cody, Apache and Dakota. Paul was predeceased by his parents Paul Sr. and Marianna Glover; his beloved son Paul George Glover; two sisters Jennie DeCesare and Rosemary Glover-Bennett; and son-in-law David W. Mixson, Jr. He is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years Debbie VanHoy Glover of North Charleston; adored children Shelly S. Glover of North Charleston, Wendy Glover Johnson (Rick) of Summerville, Marcy Glover Mixson of Summerville, April McBride of Turbeville, and Damon McBride of North Charleston. Paul also leaves behind his precious grandchildren, David Paul, Alexandrea, Layne, Austin, Sierra, Cailey, Marianna and Rebecca and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation and memorial will be held at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial, 281 Treeland Drive, Ladson, South Carolina on Thursday, May 27, 2021. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am with memorial service to immediately follow. A funeral reception will be held following services at Midland Park United Methodist Church, 2301 Midland Park Road, North Charleston, South Carolina.
