Robert Robb
June 10th, 1955 - October 8th, 2015
Whether over the phone, at the stadium or at a bar, responses would ring out, but there was none louder than the response from Rob Robb. Rob began attending Broncos games in the early 60s and it quickly became a true love that grew a Mile High. His love for the Broncos was surpassed only by the big heart he shared for other people. “Everybody who was a friend of Rob’s turned into a lifelong friend,” Lesli Boyer, Rob’s sister, said. Robert Edward Robb died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, after a two-year battle with cancer. He was 60. Rob was born on June 10, 1955, in Denver. A 1973 graduate of Kennedy High School, he later joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Texas, Illinois and Nevada, but he couldn’t be kept from Colorado for long. After leaving the Air Force, Rob returned to his home state, his family and his beloved Broncos. Rob worked as a taxi cab driver for over 20 years, then as a painter, an electrician and finally a United States Postal Service worker until his retirement in September 2015. Through it all, Rob found friends along the way. “He could meet you once and you would like him,” JC Robb, Rob’s brother, said. His easy-going and fun-loving nature drew people in, but the concern he showed, accompanied by a warm, genuine smile that was ever-present when he talked to them, kept people around. Rob knew how to make people feel welcome the moment they walked into a room. “What really struck me about him was that he was one of those people who, when he was talking to you, he was really talking to you and listening,” Tracey Robb, Rob’s sister-in-law, said. Rob was a history buff, particularly for anything WWII—as a young child, he would draw elaborate scenes inspired by stories of the war and continued to collect models of war-era tanks and planes. An avid music lover, if you played a song, he could most likely name the band (especially if it was Frank Zappa). He also enjoyed downhill skiing (the faster, the better), basketball and cooking. Rob’s interests varied, but the characteristic that ran true no matter the interest was the passion he poured into each one. Rob is survived by siblings JC Robb (Tracey) and Lesli Boyer; nieces and nephews, Mike, Autum (Tom), Michelle (Kyle), Brian (Danielle) and Shannon; great niece and nephews, Jackson, Carson and Aubree; and the many lifelong friends who turned into extended family. A memorial service will be held at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6 at Fort Logan National Cemetery (Staging Area C), 4400 W. Kenyon Ave. Broncos attire, in honor of Rob’s favorite team, is encouraged. A reception will follow at the Doghouse Tavern, 3100 S. Sheridan Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Denver Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
