Margaret Ann (Grieser) Kennedy, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in Denver, Colorado on Thursday, November 19, 2020. Margaret was born on October 31, 1928, in Duluth, Minnesota; the youngest of three children born to Henry and Ann (MacArthur) Grieser. Margaret graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1945, at age sixteen, and then attended Duluth Teacher’s College, the forerunner of the University of Minnesota, Duluth. She graduated in 1948 with a double major in Chemistry and Physics, an exceptional course of study for a young woman in those times. Margaret met the love of her life, Allan Kennedy, at a church social shortly after Allan returned from the war in Europe. They were married on August 2, 1950, and settled into a house on Gladstone Street in Duluth. Margaret taught school until her children were born; after that the family moved to a bigger house on Harvard Avenue and Margaret began running a day care in the home. When her kids were older Margaret went back to teaching. She taught at various schools in the Duluth school system for over thirty years before retiring to Arizona, and eventually Denver. Margaret and Allan recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. In addition to Allan, Margaret is survived by her sons, Bruce and Douglas; grandsons Bennett Kennedy and Jackson (Emily) Kennedy; granddaughter, Madeleine Kennedy; nieces, Mary Ann (Rick) Snyder and Cathy Williams; and nephew Bill (Andrea) Grieser. No memorial service is contemplated at this time due to COVID-19 restrictions. Margaret will be interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
