Matthew "Matt" Williams
March 19th, 1966 - February 25th, 2023
On Saturday, February 25th, 2023, Matthew Wayne Williams, (56) passed away, surrounded by the love of his wife, Jayne, and their 3 children, Charlie, Jacob, and Vin. Matt was a loving Husband, Father, Son, Uncle, and Brother. Matt was also a cherished friend and mentor to countless others. Matt grew up in Round Rock and Sugar Land, Texas where he played football and developed lifelong friendships with his teammates. Matt attended Texas Tech University where he played rugby and began his professional career as a hospital Pharmacy Technician. Matt moved to Houston to finish his bachelor's degree in 1990 from the University of Houston. Matt and Jayne met in 1990, married in 1993, and settled in Sugar Land, Tx. Upon college graduation, Matt began a 30+ year career in Pharmaceutical/Oncology Sales, Diagnostic Testing and Biopharma Sales. Matt and Jayne relocated to Raleigh, NC, Doylestown, PA, Highland Village, Tx, and Parker, CO. With every move, every company, and in various positions of leadership, Matt developed enduring friendships, business relationships, and was a mentor to many others along the way. To say Matt was fun, was an understatement. Matt thrived in the outdoors. Matt's favorite activity was sharing his outdoor passions with family and friends. Matt spent countless hours organizing unforgettable family adventures and hosting his "Fall Extravaganzas" in the Colorado Rockies. Not only did Matt live life BIG, but his caring nature and love of adventure brought Matt closer to family and lifelong friends. Whether he was hunting, fishing, rafting, camping, hiking, skiing, golfing, traveling with family and friends, or cheering on his kids in countless sporting events, school musicals and plays, Matt gave it his all! He was known for his quick wit, contagious personality, big smile, and a kind compassionate spirit. He never knew a stranger and lived life at 100mph. His love and pride for his 3 children, Charlie, Jacob, and Vin was immeasurable but his time with them was tragically cut way too short! Matt's positive energy touched everyone around him and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Matt was preceded in death by mother, Lois, and stepbrother, Al. He is survived by his immediate family, wife of 30 years, Jayne, and children, Charlie, Jacob and Vin, his father Morris & stepmother Sally, sister Candace, brother Wade & his wife Carol, brother Brett & his wife Kim, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Pancreatic cancer is seldom detected at an early stage when it may be treatable. Currently, there are few reliable routine screening tests for pancreatic cancer making the possibility of early detection rare. Matt's battle with pancreatic cancer lasted only 40 days. Please take the time to educate yourself about pancreatic cancer and ask your doctor if you should be screened. We lost a great man but hold on to many precious memories. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 pm, Saturday, April 15, 2023 at PACE. Visitation will be held one hour prior, from 3:00-4:00 pm. Reception will follow after service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN.org) in Matt's name.
