Barbara Sue Anderson
February 17th, 1948 - August 17th, 2020
Barbara Sue Ketchum Anderson, "Barb" passed away at her home August 17, 2020 from natural causes. Barb was born in St. Louis, Missouri, February 17, 1948 to Wilbur and Louise Ketchum. She grew up in Highland, Illinois and after graduating from high school she went on to become a police officer in Jennings Missouri. Barb fell in love with Colorado and moved to Loveland in 1973 to be close to family, becoming the first female police officer for the city. Working the Big Thompson flood was extremely difficult and life altering for Barb. Barb and John Anderson married in 1979. They met while playing softball, one of Barb’s favorite sports. Barb and John also enjoyed bowling. Their many dogs were like their children. In the 1980s, they moved to Mesa, Arizona where Barb worked in bank security. They returned to Loveland and Barb worked as a coroner’s investigator in Larimer County for several years. John later took a position with the water district and they moved to Kersey. In 2008, John retired and they moved west of Loveland. They were active in the Big Thompson Canyon Association and lived in the Anderson family home until their deaths. Barb was predeceased by her parents, her sister and her husband, John. She is survived by her sister, Pat Weedin (Lawrence), her nephews Eric (Dani) his stepson Logan, Mark (Michaela) their sons Caden and Carter, Alex (Melanie) and their children Remy and Fletcher and Kelly Weedin. She is also survived by her niece Cindy Miller and nephews Elton and Dale Dintelman. Cremation has been completed and services for both Barb and John will be scheduled at a later date.
