Marcus Richard Berg of Esko, passed away June 8, 2013 due to complications following a liver biopsy. He was born to Rick and Mona Berg on September 5, 1982 in Duluth. Marc graduated from Esko High School in 2001 and the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, in 2005 with a Bachelor's degree in Communications. Marc is survived by his father, Rick Berg; mother, Mona Berg; sister, Jillian Nelson, her husband, Marvin, and their son, Charlie; grandmother, Lois Berg, and grandparents, Joe and Joanne Vekich. Family was especially important to Marc and he adored spending time with all of his aunts, uncles, and cousins. Because of his constant sense of adventure, the youngest family members always held a special place in his heart. He will always be remembered and loved by his cousins, Natalie (7) and Cason (5) Pitrago, and Emma "Emmster" (5) Paulbeck, for the endless fun he brought to their lives. Marc was thrilled to be there for the birth and first few weeks of his nephew, Charlie's, life, and we are thankful he will carry on Marc's loving and passionate spirit. Marc loved drumming, ski trips with his dad, concerts, and performing with his many bands. He had a rare ability to bring people together from all walks of life and showed us all how to enjoy life to the fullest. His family will always feel blessed by the outpouring of support shown by friends and family, many of who traveled at a moments' notice from all parts of the country, to spend time with Marc during his final days. It was a true testament to how well he loved others and what an impact he had on everyone he met. Rick and Mona are especially grateful that Marc had Lindsey Thudin in his life since the day he fell in love with her in second grade. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 in the Cloquet Gospel Tabernacle, 1400 Washington Avenue.
