Doris L. Phoenix, 95, of Amsterdam NY, has gone to her eternal rest on Sunday April 10th, 2016. Born on December 22, 1920 in Rhondda, Wales, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Dinham. Doris met the love of her life, James Phoenix, during World War II while James was stationed in London with the Army's 8th Air force. They were joined in marriage on July 3, 1943 in South Ascot, Wales, moving to Amsterdam a few years later. It was a beautiful union that lasted until James's passing on January 2, 2010. Doris worked for almost 30 years with the Almor Co. in Amsterdam NY, before moving to Atlanta, GA with James in 1982. In 2003 she and James moved back to Amsterdam to be closer to family. Doris enjoyed music, dancing, gardening, working in her yard, spending time with her family and the occasional shopping trip. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her. Doris is survived by her son Michael (Dorothy) Phoenix of Amsterdam; her grandsons, Greg (Sarah) Phoenix of Cambridge MA, Tim (Jennifer) Phoenix of Memphis TN, Michael Scott (Rossini) Phoenix of Queens NY; her great grandchildren, Josephine Daphine Phoenix of Memphis TN, Nicholas Jude Phoenix of Memphis TN, and Riley Skye Phoenix of Cambridge, MA. Doris is part of a large and loving family from South Wales.
