Eldon "Don" Walker Pierce

Eldon (Don) Walker Pierce (1930-2024), passed peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loved ones and beloved pets, on Monday, October 21st. A man of God, he found great comfort in knowing that he would be reunited with his beloved siblings, Roxie and Joe, and his loving parents, Estelle and Ernest; he looked forward to seeing the many family members and friends who had gone before him.

A native to San Saba, Texas, Eldon found his home in Albuquerque after a long and distinguished public service career, retiring as a Major who earned a Bronze Star in the United States Air Force. He took the opportunity between careers to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Texas at El Paso. He returned to his wife and children in Albuquerque to open what would become the oldest book and comic shop in town, which still operates today, going into its 54th year. After retiring from the bookstore business, Don kept very busy in his community of genealogists, ham radio operators and close circle of friends, like his girl Friday Kate Blake. He loved celebrating birthdays and family reunions, and is surely enjoying the best reunion of all now.

Eldon is survived by his three children, Steven, Elizabeth and Michael, and his treasured granddaughter Grace, as well as his many nieces and nephews. Eldon will be interred at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, with his much-missed wife Margaret Mary (Peggy) Delany Pierce.
