John E. Robitzek, 81, passed away at home on November 17, 2024.

 

Born on Staten Island, NY, he was the son of the late Dr. Edward H. and Katherine (Robertson) Robitzek.

 

John graduated from Colgate University and Albany Law School. He served in the U.S. Army for 3 years, two of which were as a training office at Tigerland, Fort Polk, LA. John was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant in 1970.

 

John was employed from 1973 to 2005 by the New York State Department of Social Services and its successor agency. He served in a variety of capacities ranging from hearing officer trainee to General Counsel; all positions that he thoroughly enjoyed.

As an avid animal lover, he is survived by Buddy.

 

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Scott Robitzek.

 

John is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carol “Tee” Robitzek; their son, Mark (Karen); grandson, Zachary and step grandchildren, Kate & Ryan Murray.

 

Memorial donationsin John’s memory can be made to the Schoharie Valley Animal Shelter, 304 Howes Cave Road, P.O. Box 40, Howes Cave, NY, 12092.
