Beers and Story - South Hadley
Ronald Cormier
April 27th, 1954 - November 25th, 2024
In Loving Memory
Ronald L. Cormier, 70, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and lifelong resident of South Hadley, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Ron leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to his family.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lee-Anne (Hennessey) Cormier, and their three children: Ronald A. Cormier and his wife Amy, Chad W. Cormier and his wife Danielle, and Nicole A. Brunelle and her husband Todd. Ron's joy extended to his six grandchildren: Mikaela Dupuis-Cormier, Sarah, RJ, and Anna Cormier, and Cameron and Kaden Cormier, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his mother, Helen Ouimet, his brothers, Thomas Cormier and Raymond Cormier, and his sister, Michelle Tower. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Cormier.
For over 45 years, Ron worked as a Quality Engineer at Hamilton Sundstrand, where his colleagues highly respected him. Despite his quiet and reserved nature, Ron's competence, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his work left a lasting impression. His professional legacy is one of excellence and integrity, a standard that continues to inspire his former colleagues.
Ron's passion for home improvement and artistic pursuits defined much of his life. He was an avid handyman, constantly building, fixing, and enhancing his home. His creative spirit found expression in various artistic endeavors, including stained glass art, macrame, and woodworking. These hobbies showcased his talent, attention to detail, and patience.
Beyond his artistic endeavors, Ron had a zest for life that manifested in his love for dancing, oldies music, and bowling. These activities brought him joy and connected him meaningfully with friends and family.
While Ron never explicitly stated it, his actions spoke volumes about his love for Christmas. His enthusiasm for decorating his home like Santa's village demonstrated the joy he found in the holiday season. For Ron, the holidays were a time to celebrate with family, creating lasting memories and traditions that will be cherished for generations. His love for Christmas was infectious, spreading joy and warmth to all who knew him.
After a long and fulfilling career, Ron embraced retirement with the same passion as he approached everything else. He and Lee-Anne decided to move to Florida, where Ron found great joy in the warm climate and relaxed lifestyle. The move allowed him to pursue his hobbies year-round and enjoy outdoor activities that weren't always possible in Massachusetts. Ron often spoke of how much he loved living in Florida, describing it as a "slice of paradise" where he could fully enjoy his golden years.
Ron's legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the memories he created, and the love he shared with his family and friends. Ron will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue inspiring those fortunate to know him.
Services will be held at Beers and Story Funeral Home, 646 Newton Street, South Hadley, Ma, 01075, from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 7th, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The American Cancer Society in Ron's memory.
