Patricia Lynn Stuart
December 31st, 1955 - December 3rd, 2024
Patricia Lynn Stuart passed away on December 3rd, after a long battle with a rare neurodegenerative disease known as Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). She was 68 years old. Lynn is predeceased by her daughter Lucy and sister Lauren, and is survived by her other two children, E and Nan, her husband Douglass, sister Ann and brother David, and niece Tracy and nephew Bill. Her siblings, husband, and children all currently live near Boulder, Colorado.
Lynn was born in Marblehead Massachusetts and there began her lifelong love of the ocean. Lynn's father was an engineer and in the 1960's the family moved to Florida, near Cape Canaveral's space program, where he worked. Lynn attended and graduated from Colby College in Maine. After college Lynn migrated west to Colorado. She and Douglass met in graduate school at CU, where both obtained their PhDs in Economics, and they married in 1983. After obtaining their PhDs, Lynn and Douglass moved to Williamstown, MA, in 1985 where both taught economics at Williams College.. They moved back to Colorado in 1990, then on to Reno, Nevada until moving again to College Station, Texas. Lynn finally settled again in Boulder in 2006. Throughout all the moves was a constant love of the outdoors, and Lynn enjoyed rock climbing, biking, skiing, hiking, tennis, and backpacking. Lynn later developed a love of bridge, and regularly played with the Boulder bridge players at the Elks Club until very recently.
Lynn will be remembered as an extraordinary mother, loving wife, wonderful friend, and a supportive aunt. We will always treasure her sharp intellect, fierce independence, fearless sense of adventure, and boundless love, compassion, and generosity. We are thankful for the decades of enjoying her mouthwatering cooking and beholding her stunning gardens. We are better off because of the outdoor adventures and exciting travels we shared with her.
There is so, so, so much more to say about our beloved Lynn, but for now, suffice it to say that we miss her very much.
There is no cure, nor treatment for PSP. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you might support research of the disease.
