Danial Gilmore Rose passed away unexpectedly on December 8, 2024 at St. John's Hospital. He was 79 years old. Dan was born June 20, 1945 in River Falls, WI. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Uncle.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia Rose; children, Denise (Michael Demco), Danial Rose, Jr. and Paula (Mundy Maxson); grandchildren, Stephanie Demco, Bradley Demco, Isabella Demco and Gabriella Demco; brother, Jerry Rose (Kathy) and many nieces and nephews.
He grew up in Hudson, WI with his large extended family. At the age of 17, Dan enlisted in the Navy under the Early Enlistment Program called Kiddie Cruisers. He served from April 29, 1963 to August 19, 1966 on the USS Bon Homme Richard Aircraft Carrier. Dan and wife Patricia attended several annual reunions from 2009 to 2024 with others that served on the same ship during its service. Dan started working for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad in October 1968, which eventually became the Union Pacific Railroad. Starting as a Track Welder, Road Master (Spooner), Safety Inspector, and ending as a Track Inspector. He retired on his 60th birthday June 20, 2005.
Preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Flossie Rose; infant brother, Sammy Rose; siblings, Hugh Rose, Dick Rose, Chick Rose, Bonnie Kohrt, Betty Hand, Joyce Smith, Fritz Rose, and Rosie Morgan.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Sandberg Funeral Home.
Private Funeral Committal and Burial will be held at Friday December 27, 2024 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
