Janet M. Cantrill

February 8, 1936 - November 25, 2024

  Janet M. Cantrill, formerly of Moline, Ill., passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024 at Mountain Park Senior Living in Phoenix,  Az.

  The family wishes to thank the medical staff at Ahwatukee Family Medicine, the nurses, caregivers and staff at Mountain Park and the living angels of Valley of the Sun Hospice, all of whose efforts provided the dignity so deserved.  The family also appreciates Janet's dear friends who have given her a lifetime of memories and whose support sustained her.

  Janet was born February 8, 1936 in Moline, Ill., to Nels and Evelyn (Carlson) Holmstrom.  She graduated from Moline High School in 1953. (She enjoyed the spirited reunions her class held around the country until she was well into her 80's.)  Janet married Donald E. Cantrill on June 6, 1954 at Salem Lutheran Church.  She and Don raised their family in East Moline and Moline and cherished their years of membership and laughter at Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley.  Don preceded Janet in death in October, 1993.  After moving to Phoenix, Az in 2013, Janet enjoyed many years of activities and friendship at the Ahwatukee Recreation Center.

  Janet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was predeceased by her brother, Gerald.  Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Don (Judy) and Dean (Dawn) grandchildren, Reis (Emily), Ben (Samantha), Kathryn (Ben), Alexandra;  great-grandchildren, Eloise, Ethan, James and Bennett;  brother, Leslie, and numerous other relatives and dear friends.

  A private memorial service will be in the Spring of 2025 in Moline, Ill.  Janet will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
