Scott Mack Ausland, 62 years old, died on November 9th, 2022, at his home in Portland, Oregon. Scott was born and raised in Eugene, Oregon on May 27th, 1961. He graduated from South Eugene High School. He is survived by his mother, Jean Bell of Santa Fe New Mexico; his sister Lysa Cook in Ohio; his brothers Greg in North Carolina and Kelly in Oregon and his aunt Friedl Bell in Eugene, Oregon. His father, Don K. Ausland, died in 2006; his grandmother Mimi Bell in 1999 and his uncle Bob Bell in 2019.

Scott had a gentle soul and a big heart. Scott was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia shortly after he left Eugene on a basketball scholarship in 1978. He battled this illness for the rest of his life. Prior to his illness, Scott was an outstanding athlete who loved to spend time with his brothers and friends.

His family is grateful for the care Scott received from Faulkner Place in Portland, Oregon where he died peacefully in his sleep. Scott’s ashes will be given to the ocean to honor his favorite place on earth, Neskowin, Oregon
