Lowell Vern Olsen, 90, of Punta Gorda Florida, passed away January 18, 2025, at Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte. Florida.  Born October 5, 1934, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the son of Ariel L Olsen and Emma Victoria Johnson.  Lowell graduated from Sacramento State College with BS degree in Civil Engineering. Lowell served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Lowell retired from Chicago Bridge and Iron in 1996 after 30 years.  As Operations Manager for Western US, Hawaii and American Samoa, his job took him to many countries as Project Manager, including the Alaska Pipeline, and many other projects in Venezuela, Australia, South America, India, Japan and more.  In his leisure time he enjoyed boating, fishing and golf. In addition to his parents Lowell was preceded in death by his son Michael Lowell Olsen, his grandson Paul Michael Olsen, his brothers LaMar Olsen, Dee Olsen, and sisters Eulalia Hanks and Barbara Fossum. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Lois Olsen, whom he married on December 28, 1951.  His son Ronald Olsen and wife Michele Olsen, his granddaughters Kristie Herr and Theresa Rutledge and his grandson Neil Olsen, his great grandchildren Ryan Herr, Rachel Olsen, Ethan Rutledge, and Gracie Rutledge. Funeral arrangements will be held in Livermore, California as his final resting place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Tidewell Hospice Foundation, Sarasota, FL.
