Rhonda Measel Douglas Hicks

Rhonda Measel Douglas Hicks, 74, of Lexington, KY, passed away on February 15, 2025. She was born in Lexington on August 20, 1950, to the late Thurman and Grace Measel. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hicks, and her brother, Steve Measel.
Rhonda is survived by her loving son, Matthew (Sarah) Douglas, and her cherished grandson, Stephen Hicks. She also leaves behind her beloved brothers, Henry (Karen), Martin (Gwenda), and Terry Measel, along with her treasured nieces, nephews, and close cousins.
Rhonda dedicated much of her career to the Lexington Housing Authority before retiring from the Lexington-Fayette County Urban Government as an accountant. She was a proud MBA graduate of Morehead State University.
Beyond her professional life, Rhonda was a lifelong learner with a deep love of reading and crossword puzzles. She found joy in collecting glass art, each piece reflecting her appreciation for beauty and craftsmanship. Her happiest moments were spent near the ocean, especially along the North Carolina Outer Banks, where she felt most at peace. Above all, she was known for her boundless empathy, compassion, and unwavering faith.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1, at Clark Legacy Center – Brannon Crossing in Lexington, KY, with Nora Conner of St. Luke United Methodist Church presiding. Visitation will begin at Noon, followed by the service at 1:00 PM. Friends and family are welcome to gather at her home for fellowship and remembrance after the service.
