Nancy Kirkman Gardner, 90, of Greensboro, NC, born August 3, 1934, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, under the compassionate care of Brookdale Assisted Living in High Point. Born in Greensboro and raised in Pleasant Garden, Nancy was the youngest of seven children of the late Grover Cleveland and Ethel (Hanner) Kirkman. She grew up surrounded by the love of a large family and carried that same devotion into every chapter of her life. Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband and the love of her life of 66 years, Clayton Gardner, as well as her cherished oldest grandson, forever 31, Palmer Clayton Hodgin. Nancy was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Marty Gardner Hodgin (John) and Tina Gardner Martin, both of Greensboro. She was affectionately known as Grandmother and “Mubbie” to her grandchildren whom she adored: Brian Hodgin of Wilmington, Evan Hodgin (Madison) of Pleasant Garden, Chandler Stanley of Raleigh, Carmen Martin (Colin O’Dell) of Littleton, CO and great granddaughter, Rowyn Hodgin of Greensboro. Nancy was known for her quick wit, and fun-loving sense of humor that could carry a room. She found strength and joy in her deep love for the Lord and took great comfort in her faith throughout her life. A graveside service will be held to celebrate her life on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Pleasant Garden Methodist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Mike Barrett officiating. As requested by Nancy, her niece Karen Myers of Ocean Isle Beach will lovingly provide the music for the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. The family welcomes family and friends to gather and share memories at the home of John and Marty Hodgin, 3905 Dover Park Rd., Greensboro.
