Daniel Grant Kelly, 64, of Doswell, VA passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025 in Indian Rocks Beach, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents Hairm and Naomi Kelly and his sister Dusty Walker. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Jacqueline Wilhite; daughters Danielle Jacqueline and Lacey Elizabeth. Survivors also include siblings Vickie Gray (Rick), David Kelly (Cindy), Susan Lee (Mike), Rhonda Kelly (Kurt) as well as numerous other family members.
Daniel was born in Albemarle County, Virginia on April 14, 1961. By way of their mutual friend, Lisa Taylor, he met his future wife Jackie in King George county in 1980. They were married in Ashland VA in 1985 and began a journey that included their shared passion for travel and adventure. Over the rest of his life Daniel built a family, business, reputation and lasting legacy. He was utterly devoted to his daughters and worked tirelessly to ensure their well being in every way he could.
Often described as a jack of all trades and master of most; Daniel, the sole proprietor of DANKEL Inc. for over 30 years, was the man to go to for solutions for everything from unique, custom applications to timely service and repair. He will be remembered for his quiet generosity making donations to nonprofits dedicated to children and veterans; mentoring youth through 4H and FIRST robotics; as well as always coming to the aid of friends, family and strangers in need. Daniel made a lasting impact on all he met and will be missed and remembered by those that had the good fortune to cross his path.
A funeral service for Daniel will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 105 S Snead St., Ashland, VA 23005 on Thursday, May 22, at 3 pm. Burial will take place after the service at Woodland Cemetery, 11310 Hanover Ave, Ashland, VA 23005 with a reception to follow at Around the Table restaurant, Ashland Junction Shopping Center, 155 Junction Dr, Ashland, VA 23005.
A Celebration of Life will be held the afternoon of Saturday, June 28th in Doswell.
Flowers may be sent to the church or cemetery and in lieu of flowers donations may be made to any charity of your choice.
Daniel’s heart led him to support Teddy Bears for children in crisis to be handed out by first responders or Veteran’s organizations.
