Nila A. Edwards, 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Wells Nursing Home.
Born May 31, 1935, in Gloversville, a daughter of the late Clayton and Clara (Oathout) Rhodes.
Nila worked alongside her late husband, Roger Edwards, on the family farm, Model Dairy Farm, until it closed in 2000. She was also employed by Kingsboro Lumber Co for many years. She was a member of the Foothills United Methodist Church and a former superintendent of the Sunday school. Nila was also a member of the Bannertown Seniors, a 26 year 4H leader, the GHS Senior Class Reunion Committee, Class of 1953, former member of the Pleasant Square Fire Auxiliary, and belonged to various knitting clubs.
Nila was predeceased by her loving husband, Roger Edwards, it was a loving union of 61 years until his passing on September 13, 2018. She is predeceased by her son, Douglas Edwards; sisters, Shirley Rhodes and Doris Gage.
Survivors include her daughter, Marcia St. Clair (Jeff); daughter-in-law, Connie Jo Edwards, brother-in-law, Robert Edwards (Linda), four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A memorial service for Nila will be held on her 90th birthday, May 31, 2025, at 12noon, calling hours will be held prior beginning at 10am at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Burial will follow at Mayfied Cemetery, Mayfield.
