Gale B Scheltmeyer
May 13th, 1942 - June 21st, 2025
Gale B. Scheltmeyer, 83, a resident of Rockledge, Florida, and formerly of Red Hook, New York, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2025, surrounded by love, with family by her side at VITAS Hospice in Rockledge, FL.
Born on May 13, 1942, in Yonkers, NY, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Gertrude (Ellingsen) Blauvelt. She graduated with the Class of 1960 from Yorktown Heights High School in Yorktown Heights, NY. On March 2, 1962, Gale married William J. “Bill” Scheltmeyer in Salisbury, NC.
Gale worked for many years at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY. She was a devoted parishioner and served as a Eucharistic Minister, Warden, Reader, Chalice Bearer and Vestry Person at Christ Church in Red Hook, NY, and was a member of the Vestry at Christ Episcopal Church in Melbourne, FL.
She was also a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a devoted member of the Daughters of the King, and a Member of the National Notary Association.
Gale loved cooking, socializing, and had a wonderful sense of humor that brought joy and laughter to those around her.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, William J. Scheltmeyer, and her brother, Gary Blair who passed away in 2021.
She is survived by her children: Tracy Demos (Michael) of Grand Rapids, MI; Kelly Scheltmeyer of Melbourne, FL; Regina Wong (Norbert) of East Sandwich, MA; and Michael Scheltmeyer of Lisbon, NH. She was a proud grandmother to her five grandchildren: Joel Bollinger, David Bollinger, Tyler Wong, Brittany Wong, and Harley Kline Scheltmeyer.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 190 Interlachen Road, Melbourne, FL 32940. The service will be livestreamed on the Christ Episcopal Church Facebook page: Christ Episcopal Church | Melbourne FL
