                                                 Obituary of Michaela Nicole LeFrere

Michaela, known as “Kayla” to most of us, was born on July 21, 1981 to Rhonda LeFrere and Michael Meagher. A lifelong resident of Denver, Colorado, Kayla attended Denver Public Schools: Steck Elementary, Gove Middle School and East High School. She was raised in the Catholic faith, receiving her Baptism at St. Ignatius Loyola and First Communion at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Denver; she received her Confirmation at St’s Peter & Paul Catholic Church of Atlanta, GA. As an adult, Kayla’s work life began in the service industry, working at Pete’s Kitchen as a server and cashier on and off for a number of years. She enjoyed the fast-pace nature of the restaurant as well as the variety of people she met while working there. Needless to say, she never met a stranger. She later found her calling in the healthcare industry for which her caregiving nature was well-suited. She began as a CNA with Total Long-Term Care providing care for the elderly in their homes. She had a way with her patients and made certain that she understood not only their needs, but who they were. In 2010, she pursued her LPN license at Concorde Nursing School after which she practiced nursing at various rehabilitation centers. On her personal side, Kayla expressed her creativity through her art. As a young girl, she loved spending time with her Grandma Nancy learning the fine details of designing cards, painting and other creative activities. Her artistic ability continued to grow as she later experimented with pencil drawings, acrylics and oil, and mixed media styles of expression. She shared her talents with her daughters often spending time collaborating on artsy things. Kayla could see the beauty in something as simple as a pile of rocks and create something unique with it. If, as is said, that necessity is the mother of invention, Kayla was a close relative.

She loved her some animals since she was a little girl. Early on, she thought she might pursue a career in animal care. Dogs were her main love, however, as can be attested by: Man, Princess, Muppet, Sula, Mutley, Shug, Kane, Shelby, Mac and Chester. Michaela was called from this life on June 22. She will be greatly missed by her three children: Amaya, Muriel, Jr, and Arianna, along with their dad, Muriel, Sr. She cherished her time with her family and loved them with all her heart. She leaves behind her mother, Rhonda LeFrere; father, Michael Meagher (Faye); brothers Myles Webb, Michael and Tyler Meagher; Great Aunt Ella “Peggy” Anderson; Aunts: Katherine “Mel” Hudley (Greg), Beverly Parker and Lynn Boone (Clifton); Uncles: Ret. Navy Commander Kerwin LeFrere (Jean); Steven Meagher (Shauna), and David Meagher; and a whole host of cousins and extended family.
