Edward Glenn Whittemore, 58, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. It is with heavy hearts that we announce his departure.
Born on July 30, 1966, in Conway, South Carolina, to Margaret McLeod and Robert Whittemore, Edward was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a true friend to many. He was known for his sharp humor, calm spirit, and a special gift with babies that earned him the nickname "The Baby Whisperer" at church. Edward truly touched the lives of all who knew him.
In his younger years, Edward enjoyed playing baseball and camping with family. As an adult, he liked watching Nascar racing, the Atlanta Braves, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Clemson football. He loved spending time with his family by grilling out, taking frequent trips to Disney World, and most recently a Disney cruise.
Above all, Edward was deeply devoted to his family. He adored his grandchildren, Kairi and Amber, and was fiercely loyal to his friends and loved ones.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Teresa; his children Elizabeth, Ashlyn, Faith, and Edward Jr.; his sister Vickey Cummings (Timmy); and his brother Grady Whittemore (Kathy). Edward was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret McLeod; his father, Robert Whittemore; his stepfather, Ellie McLeod; and his sisters, Teresa Masters and Rhonda Hogg.
A celebration of Edward’s remarkable life will be held on July 11th at 2:00 p.m. at Riverbluff Church, located at 5421 Riverbluff Parkway, North Charleston, SC 29420, with Pastor Joe Still officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m., and all who wish to honor his memory are welcome.
