Aurora Alicia Sturgeon
May 13th, 1926 - July 11th, 2025
Aurora passed away peacefully in her home in Plymouth on July 11, 2025. She was 99. Aurora was born in Plymouth on May 13, 1926, and was the oldest of three children. She was the daughter of Joseph and Theresa Paz.
Aurora was a constant worker, but even in her business, she was always willing to help others. She loved the outdoors in her younger years, and you could frequently find her hunting or fishing. A lifelong learner, she graduated from the University of Reno with a degree in nursing. After working in the medical field for a few years, she decided it wasn't for her. Soon after that, she became a self-taught accountant. In 1971, she returned to college to complete her degree in accounting at San Jose State University. A few years later, she received her degree as a CPA.
Aurora was preceded in death by her father and mother, Joseph and Theresa, her brother (Joseph Jr.), and sister (Elidia Smith). She leaves behind her 3 children, Loren- Kathleen Sturgeon, Joann (Robert), and Chuck (Marian); 4 grandchildren, Matthew (Lupe), Kathryn (Keith), Jennifer (Scott), and Samuel—as well as 8 great-grandchildren.
A heartfelt thank you to the hospice group of Roseville; we are deeply grateful to Lori Mattingly and Janette Hamon, the caregivers who dedicated so much love to caring for Aurora during their time with her.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Daneri Mortuary. The family will host a gathering immediately at Theresa's Place.
