Daniel Philip Rains, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, at the age of 59.

Daniel was born on October 13, 1965, in Miami, Florida. He graduated from Garner High School and worked for many years as a carpenter’s assistant. A gentle and kind-hearted man, Daniel bore a lengthy illness with remarkable patience and quiet strength. His calm spirit and positive attitude touched everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Eileen Sidaras; his sister, Jennifer Butler of Raleigh, NC; and his stepmother, Suzie Shermer of Charlotte, NC. Daniel was preceded in death by his father, David Schultz Rains, and his brother, Michael (Bart) Rains.

Daniel had a special love for animals, especially his cherished boyhood dog, Muffin. Though a man of few words, Daniel delighted in the company of family and friends, often joining in with warm, happy laughter. Daniel will be remembered for his gentle soul, quiet strength, and the joy he brought to those around him. He will be dearly missed.

His family is deeply grateful to the many caretakers, CNAs, and nurses who provided such compassionate care and encouragement during his illness. They also wish to recognize NAMI Charlotte for their vital support and guidance throughout Daniel’s life.
