Theresa A. Cummings

Theresa A. Cummings, 89, of Tucson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Caring Hands Comfort Home in Tucson, Arizona.

Born on January 7, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York, Terry was the daughter of Anthony and Marie (Sampogna) Luongo. Early in her career, she worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from 1953-1967 before relocating to Tucson, where she was employed by Arizona Bank for over 25 years.

Terry was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and on December 23, 1977 was married to Harry Earl Cummings, who passed away in 1987. 

Terry was known and loved by her neighbors at The Carondelet Apartments, where she took joy in organizing social gatherings. She had a passion for quilting and sewing with her loving sisters Christine and Marie, and she deeply appreciated opera and classic films. Terry was a kind and compassionate person who consistently put the needs of others ahead of her own.

She is survived by her son, Matt, and daughter-in-law, Doniell, of California; two cherished sisters, Christine of Arizona and Eileen of New Jersey; one niece, Bernadette of Arizona; and three nephews, Charles, Anthony, and Adam, also of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maria and Antonio; her beloved sister, Marie; and her brother, Peter.

In accordance with Terry’s wishes, a visitation was held at Bring’s Broadway Chapel on July 22 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mass service at Our Lady of Sorrows will be held on Thursday, August 14th at 10:00 a.m. and burial service will occur later in the day at Holy Hope Cemetery.
