Douglas “Doug” Petesch, was born on March 24, 1950 in Great Falls, Montana and passed away on July 20, 2025. He grew up in the close-knit community of Geyser, Montana, where he developed a love of baseball, history, and the great outdoors. As a boy, he watched the family’s sheep and clerked at the family grocery store.. He was the cherished son of Donald and Mary (Kirby) Petesch and the oldest of three brothers, Greg, Mark (Sandy) and Gerald (Brother Alban) Petesch.

Doug believed in education as the path to success, earning a BA from Carroll College in Helena, Montana, and an MBA (Accounting) from the University of Washington. He scored the second highest on the Oregon CPA examination. He started his career at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell (now KPMG). It was there that he met and married his wife Mary Anne (Hupf) Petesch. They were married 48 years. Doug specialized in accounting for the seafood industry, working for Swiftsure Fisheries, Marine Resources, Yukon Delta and the Golden Alaska - GASLLC.

Throughout his life, Doug was passionate about the things that brought him joy—whether it was rooting for the Mariners, hiking through National Parks, or traveling many places using Rick Steve’s guidebooks as his Bible. He had a deep appreciation for history and nature, and his adventures allowed him to explore the beauty of life.

Doug is survived by his loving wife, Mary Anne, and their three children, Anne (Patrick) Ramey, Steven Petesch, and Julie Petesch, along with his three cherished grandchildren Katie, Matthew and Natalie Ramey as well as other family members, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents Don and Mary Petesch.

The family will hold a private celebration of Doug’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Assumption Abbey, 418 3rd Ave W, Richardton ND 58652 in Doug’s memory. Doug’s warmth, humor, and dedication to his family and friends will be forever remembered. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
