Freda (Lightfoot) Wampner, age 75, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 23, 1950 in Alvaton, Kentucky, Freda was the daughter of Archie “Raymond” Lightfoot and Lathelle Reynolds Lightfoot, both of whom preceded her in death. She married the love of her life, Larry Wampner, in 1968, and together they shared over five decades of devotion, laughter, and unconditional love. They raised two children, Christy and Rick, and were later blessed with three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Freda built a remarkable career with First Indiana Bank, where she began as a teller and rose to branch manager and eventually Vice President. She was admired for her leadership, professionalism, and the care she showed to both colleagues and clients.
After retiring, she enjoying singing, decorating homes, and spending time with family. Eventually, Freda and Larry relocated to Venice, Florida, where she embraced community life with the same energy and warmth she brought to everything she did. She served as president of her park association at Florida Pines and took part in countless neighborhood activities — always the first to volunteer and always doing so with a smile.
Freda will be remembered for her boundless optimism, can-do spirit, and her unwavering willingness to help others. Her generosity and kindness touched the lives of so many, and her legacy lives on in the family and community she loved so dearly.
She is survived by her husband Larry, her children Christy Hedrick (and son-in-law Scott Hedrick) and Rick Wampner (and daughter-in-law Sarah Wampner), her grandchildren: Laura (Hedrick) Craig, Madelyn (Wampner) Snodgrass, and Katelyn Wampner, and her sister Judy Stevens.
A family memorial will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) in Freda’s honor.
