"Semper Fidelis," "the Few, the Proud,"
Monte Powers, age 54 of Kingsport, TN entered eternal life on Sunday, July 27, 2025. Monte was born on August 18, 1970, in Kingsport, TN to Glenn Powers and Phyllis Kilgore. Monte bravely served his country for four years in the United States Marines, and he was a Desert Storm Veteran.
While serving in the U.S. Marines, Monte received several commendations and medals including a Southwest Asia Service Medal with three bronze stars, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and a Navy Unit Commendation. He was also an instructor at Camp Lejeune, and he enjoyed traveling.
Monte was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Kilgore. Those left to cherish his memory are his father, Glenn Powers; two sisters, Jennifer Valentine and husband, Johnny, and Teresa Anderson; and several loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Monte will be laid to rest at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Mountain Home, TN.
