Mr. Michael Pleas Surls of Hawaii, 69, a former resident of Walnut Creek, CA for 63 years, died unexpectedly on July 18, 2025. He was the son of the late Joseph and Joan Surls of Kailua-Kona, HI.A 1974 graduate from Ygnacio Valley High School, and a 1977 graduate from Los Medanos College. Mike went on to work as an Operations Manager at Harbor Bay Telecommunications, ICG Telecommunications, Xspedius Communications, and was promoted to Sr. Engineer at True Position and retired as Sr. Engineer II with T-Mobile. After retiring in 2019, Mike and his wife Stephanie built their dream home in Hawaii, where he earned the nickname “Kona-Mike”. He lived to take care of Stephanie and “what ever Grandma wants, Grandma gets.” Together they loved to listen to music and spend time with their grandchildren. Michael is survived by his loving wife Stephanie of 48 years, and his children Joseph, his wife Mandy, Samantha, Jessica, her husband Darren, his “4th” child Carolina, and her husband Jonathan. He will be forever cherished and remembered by his five grandchildren, Chelsea, Kathryn, Summer, Bradley, and Mason. His beloved dog Koa, and his grand-dogs Maui-boo, Fiona and Piper. His love and his memory will be engrained in our hearts forever. We will always miss you, Dad.
