Sarah Frances Mitchiner
October 28th, 1937 - July 31st, 2025
In Loving Memory
Frances Mitchiner, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on October 28, 1937, Frances grew up in North Carolina before settling in West Columbia, South Carolina, where she raised her family and spent the rest of her life. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, David, and her cherished daughter, Margaret.
She lived along the Saluda River in West Columbia, a place she cherished deeply. The natural beauty brought her joy, especially the birds, squirrels, opossums and raccoons that often visited her backyard. It was there she and her husband built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. They raised four daughters, Terry, Sandra, Polly, and Margaret with unwavering pride and dedication.
Frances’s greatest joy was her family, and her heart only grew fuller with the arrival of her seven grandchildren, all of whom she adored. She delighted in being present for every game, recital, and special moment, always cheering them on with pride and unconditional love.
A woman of deep faith, Frances was a longtime member of Northside Baptist Church and a founding member of Saluda River Baptist Church in West Columbia. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures like shopping, beach trips with family and friends, heartfelt conversations with anyone she met, and watching her beloved Carolina Gamecocks.
Those who knew her would describe her as the sweetest soul; gentle, caring, and full of grace. Her life was a shining example of love, kindness, and steady faith.
Frances is survived by her daughters Terry, Sandra, and Polly; her seven cherished grandchildren; and a community of friends and extended family who will forever hold her memory close.
A service honoring Frances’s life will take place at 12 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Woodridge Memorial Park Chapel, 138 Corley Mill Rd, Lexington, SC 29072.
