James Joseph Poole, age 77, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, in Viera, Florida. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and public servant, James lived a life marked by honor, compassion, and unwavering commitment to those he loved and served.Born in Springfield, Illinois, James answered the call to serve his country with distinction in the United States Army, where he rose to the rank of Major in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit. His military service reflected his courage, leadership, and sense of duty.Following his military career, James continued to serve his community as the Director of Senior Promise at St. Francis Hospital, where he dedicated himself to improving the lives of others with the same integrity and kindness that defined his life.James was a man of quiet strength and deep joy, often found on the golf course—his favorite hobby and lifelong passion. He cherished every round, every swing, and every opportunity to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family.He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah Kay Poole; his children, Francisco R. Poole and Cheyenne D. Poole; and his grandchildren, Deejay Y. Poole, Brantley C. Poole, and Lilith Poole. He was the rock of his family, whose legacy of love and resilience will live on in all who knew him.
