Gustavo Aguayo, age 52, of Firestone, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 1, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with colon cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. Just as he had surrounded them with love, strength, and unwavering devotion his entire life.

Born on December 27, 1972, in Durango, Mexico, Gustavo was the beloved son of Ernesto and Imelda Aguayo. He later moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he spent much of his life and met the love of his life, Martha Martinez. Together, Gustavo and Martha built a life grounded in faith and family. They eventually moved to Colorado to raise their three daughters, creating a home filled with love, warmth, and lasting memories.

Gustavo, known lovingly as Gus, was the most humble and selfless man. Always willing to lend a helping hand, even if it meant putting others before himself, he never asked for anything in return. His quiet strength, warmth, and humility touched everyone he met. He made people feel like family, welcomed, valued, and truly cared for. Gus formed countless meaningful relationships throughout his life, and to know him was to feel deeply loved.

He was a true example of what it means to be a man, a father, a son, and a brother. He led with love, stood with integrity, and gave with a full heart.

Above all, Gustavo was a man of deep faith. He always put God first and trusted in Him completely, even in the most difficult times. During his battle with cancer, he never questioned or blamed God. Instead, he leaned into his faith, praying daily and finding strength in his relationship with the Lord. His unwavering trust in God was an inspiration to everyone around him and a powerful example of grace and peace in the face of adversity.

A devoted husband, father, son, and friend, Gustavo worked incredibly hard to support and provide for his loved ones. His family was his everything. Every sacrifice he made, he did with love. He taught by example, living with compassion, integrity, and unshakable faith.

Gustavo found joy in life’s simple moments. He loved grilling and gathering around good food with his family. He enjoyed spending time in the mountains, watching football, gardening, fishing, and playing golf. His happiest moments were always those spent surrounded by the people he loved most.

Gustavo’s life was a beautiful reflection of humility, generosity, faith, and love. Though our hearts ache, we are grateful for the time we had with him and for the legacy he leaves behind, a legacy rooted in God, family, hard work, and a life well-lived.

He is survived by his loving wife Martha; his daughters Yesenia, Isabel, and Samantha, as well as Jasmin, whom he helped raise and loved as his own. He is also survived by his mother, Imelda Aguayo; his sister, Maria; and his brothers, Louis, Ernesto, Freddie, and Manuel. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Elena, Arlo, and Koa, whom he loved with all his heart, and his many nieces and nephews, whom he cared for so deeply.
