Nettie (Hartzog) Roberts
March 18th, 1931 - August 7th, 2025
Nettie, the best wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, at Village on the Isle, Venice, Florida.
Born on March 18, 1931, Nettie was a loving wife to Clyde for 69 years, she lived in Atlanta, GA, and Tampa/Plant City, FL, and Clyde and she moved to Venice in 2006. In 2014 they moved to Village on the Isle where they enjoyed many active years of living the retirement life and meeting new friends.
Mrs. Roberts, a native of St. George, SC, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. Her career included elementary teaching positions in Atlanta Public School System and Hillsborough School System.
Nettie was a member of First Baptist Church of Venice and attended Venice Presbyterian Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Clyde, and her son-in-law, Randall Thompson. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Thompson of Charlotte, NC; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Amy Roberts of Venice; three grandchildren and their spouses, Matt Thompson and Sophie Pierce (Phoenix, Arizona); Allison and Michael Mayer (Charlotte, North Carolina); Daniel Roberts (Winston-Salem, North Carolina); and great-granddaughters Ainsley Mayer, Piper Mayer, and Eliot Pierce Thompson.
Nettie will be missed, but her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a devout Christian, she put everyone’s needs above her own, and there will never be another like her. We look forward to a heavenly reunion with Mom and Dad in the future.
There will be no services in her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Nettie be made to Village on the Isle Foundation, Venice, Florida.
