Jerry Joe Bartchlett, 80, passed away on August 10, 2025. He was born on August 16, 1944, in Fostoria, Ohio.
Jerry was married to Sue (Hiser/Marshall) from 1963 to 1986. They had two daughters, Traci (Ken) Baxendell and Amey (Bill) Baker. He has a grandson, Nathan Hicks, and a step-granddaughter, Meghan (Baxendell) Cerna.
He then married Phyllis (Kersh/Geiger). They remained married until his passing.
Jerry is survived by his two daughters, his grandson, step-granddaughter, his wife, Phyl, and her sons, Stephen (Tauna) Geiger and Troy (Janice Michalek) Geiger. He is also survived by his step-grandchildren, Ryan, James, Samantha and Tabitha Geiger.
Jerry is also survived by his brother, Jack (Linda) Bartchlett. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Bartchlett, as well as his sister, Joy Pankhurst.
Jerry served in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967. He was stationed in Zweibrucken, Germany during that time. While serving, he was honored with a National Defense Service Medal, a Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon and an Air Force Good Conduct Medal.
He received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1974 from Bowling Green State University. Jerry was a Property Tax Manager with Marathon Oil Company in Findlay, Ohio, before transferring to US Steel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He retired in 2002.
Throughout his life, Jerry enjoyed woodworking, flyfishing, cycling, gourmet cooking, gardening and home improvement. He loved music and enjoyed playing his piano every evening. He loved animals, whether they were his pets or the birds and critters that found their way into his backyard feeders. He will remain fondly in the memories of his loving family as well as those who knew him and were blessed by his kindness, generosity and wonderful wit.
