Susanna Linney
July 2nd, 1933 - July 27th, 2025
Susanna Linney, 92, passed on July 27, 2025, surrounded by her family in Litchfield Park, Arizona. A loving mother and grandmother, an educator, community leader, and adventurer. Sue touched many lives and left a legacy of accomplishments. She was a former city council member known for championing the “No Smoking” law, BMX Raceway and first dog park in Goodyear, Arizona.
Born on July 2, 1933, Sue married her high school sweetheart William Grossman in 1952, who made the Air Force his career. They had four children, Roy Grossman (Debbie), Joyce Grossman (Jon Sands), Karen McCool (Brian) and Kent Grossman (Tah). While raising the family, Sue attended college in numerous cities finishing with a Doctorate of Education from the University of Pacific. She began as an elementary teacher and concluded her career as a school program specialist.
In 1986, Sue married Dan Linney and her family grew with his children Daniel Jr., Kathy Robbins and Brian, their spouses and children. With Dan her adventures began. The two sailed the coasts of California and Baja, and across the Pacific to Hawaii and back. They set anchor for a time in Mexico before moving to Goodyear, Arizona, settling in Pebble Creek in1993.
Moving to La Loma Village, Litchfield Park in 2005, where Dan passed away in 2012. Sue’s new traveling partners became her children and grandchildren. World-wide memories were crafted into scrapbooks for each of their travels.
At La Loma Village, Sue became a fixture at social gatherings, parties, and celebrations. She taught line dancing, was active in water aquatics, and arranged card games. She was a skilled seamstress and shared her talent with others.
Sue leaves her son Roy of Florida and daughters Joyce of Arizona, and Karen of New Mexico. Her sisters Gail Tessman (Jerry), Minnesota and Carol Roecklein (John) of Georgia. Her son Kent predeceased her in 2022.
Sue lived life to the fullest. Her celebration of life is August 30th at 2:30 p.m., in the atrium at La Loma Village,14154 W. Denny Blvd., Litchfield Park, AZ. Donations in her memory may be sent to the Arizona Humane Society, 1521 W. Dobbins, Phoenix, AZ 85041
