Jaros Marie Murphy went to be the Lord at home on Sunday, August 3rd. She was born on May 23rd, 1945, to Walter and Marie Reichenborn in Swannanoa, North Carolina.

On July 22, 1967, she married her high school sweetheart, Pat Murphy. This year, they celebrated 58 years of marriage—a testament to their enduring love and partnership.

Jaros became a registered nurse and worked in Clovis, New Mexico, until she embraced what she considered one of her greatest callings: motherhood. She and Pat were blessed with 8 children, 8 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Psalm 127:3 says, “Children are a heritage from the Lord…”—a verse that held deep meaning for Jaros, who dedicated her life to raising her children with love, wisdom, and a steadfast commitment to pointing them to Christ.

She was deeply involved in her children’s lives, serving as a leader in many of their activities, including Cub Scouts and Indian Maidens. Her heart for service extended to her church, where she led Girls in Action (GAs), Acteens, AWANA, Vacation Bible School, and many other ministries. Her greatest desire was that everyone would have the opportunity to hear the gospel of Christ.

Jaros was also a woman of many talents and interests. She enjoyed ceramics, sewing, brass rubbings, framing, needlepoint, and lovingly made Christmas stockings for her family. One of her most adventurous pursuits was learning to fly—she even soloed a flight, a memory her family cherishes.

Through Pat’s career in the Air Force, the family had the opportunity to travel and camp all over the world, creating some of the most treasured memories of their lives together.

Proverbs 31:28 beautifully captures her legacy: “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.”
