Danny Clay O'Quinn

Danny Clay O’Quinn was born on May 1, 1957, in Palestine, Texas to Dallas Patrick (Pat) and Edna Mae (Walden) O’Quinn. He entered into Heaven on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the age of 68. He passed peacefully at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was loved and will be missed. Danny graduated from Alvin High School in Alvin, Texas as a member of the class of 1975. After graduation, he attended Texas A&M University. He was a member of the Corps of Cadets and played the trumpet in the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band for three years. He was also chosen to be a bugler for the “Silver Taps” ceremony honoring fallen students during the academic year. While at Texas A&M he met his wife, Jackie Lynn Ward, at a store in Bryan, Texas while each shopped for everyday items. They quickly began dating and were married on January 21, 1978 at Bryan, Texas. They were married 47 years, being separated only by Danny’s passing. They lived together in Houston, Texas, Sulphur Springs, Texas, Westminster, Colorado, and Colorado Springs, Colorado. Danny enjoyed living in Colorado but never lost his love as a native Texan for his home state.

Danny worked in the auto parts industry at Brake Check, Sulphur Springs Parts Company (later NAPA Auto Parts), and Four Star Engines. In 1998 he had the opportunity to change career fields and became a nuclear waste inspector for a subcontractor to the Department of Energy responsible for the clean up and shut down of the Rocky Flats Plant in Jefferson County, Colorado near Denver. Danny often said he enjoyed his job as a nuclear waste inspector the most of any position he professionally held. Danny was an avid sports fan and never lost his passion for the Texas A&M football team. He also enjoyed music, loved to sing, and was an accomplished trumpet player in high school and college. This passion allowed him to lead the music portion of worship services while serving the Lord on 2 foreign mission trips (Brazil and the Philippines) in the late 1980s to early 1990s. Throughout his life, Danny shared a love of God and was a devoted follower of his Lord Jesus Christ. He was a faithful attendee and choir member of First Baptist Church, Sulphur Springs, Texas and served as a deacon at First Southern Baptist Church in Northglenn, Colorado. In his final years, he attended Proving Ground Church in Lakehurst, New Jersey via their online streaming feed when his health limited his ability to physically attend a church in Colorado Springs.

Danny is survived by his loving wife Jackie (Ward) O’Quinn of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his son Brian O’Quinn and Deborah (Debbie) of Falcon, Colorado; his daughter Julia (O’Quinn) Brady and Thomas (Tom) of Bayville, New Jersey. Danny is survived by four Grandchildren: Benjamin O’Quinn of Falcon, Colorado; Tessa O’Quinn of Falcon, Colorado; Kailey Brady of Bayville, New Jersey; and Natalie Brady of Bayville, New Jersey; and Danny’s brother Michael (Mike) O’Quinn and Janice of Richmond, Texas. Also surviving are 3 nieces and 3 nephews and their families. Danny is preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Patrick (Pat) and Edna O’Quinn; his Father-in-law and Mother-in-law Kenneth and Marjorie Ward, and his Brother-in-law Wayne Thomas. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on August 26, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel at All Veterans Funeral and Cremation, 1020 E. Fillmore St, Colorado Springs, Colorado. A visitation with family will occur from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the chapel.
